(Scott Irvine + Kim Meinelt)
NEW YORK CITY
WAXENVINE is the collective vision of husband and wife team Scott Irvine and Kim Meinelt from New York City. Their photographic work centers around themes of light, shadow, texture and beauty – of both the mundane and unusual. HAUNTED is a collection of twenty new works that were created exclusively for this exhibition. Each image is a blend of Scott and Kim’s photography. The resulting effect is a haunting dreamscape that transcends the singular images, uniting two individual visions into one.
In addition to Scott and Kim’s blended imagery, a portrait collection by Scott will be exhibited. These portraits consist of many well known artists, musicians and Brooklyn friends. Some to note are: Interpol, The Horrors, Erik Sanko and Jessica Grindstaff of Phantom Limb Productions, Jim Thirlwell of Foetus, Ian Astbury from The Cult, Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls, fashion designer Anthony Malat, and Nick Zinner & Karen O of Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs.
SCOTT IRVINE received his BFA in photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. His work has been exhibited internationally. Scott manages one of the few remaining black + white darkrooms where he works and lives as an artist in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY.
KIM MEINELT studied at North Carolina School of the Arts with an intense focus on set design and scenic painting. After freelancing as a sculptor, painter and interior designer in NYC, she crossed paths with Eileen Fisher in 1993 evolving into a successful career as the Creative Concept Director.
